Flax Fiber Reinforced

General

We purchase flax shive from a processor based in Canada. Flax is grown for flax seed, oil ,and fiber. We utilize the ground stalk or shive , which has no commercial value. This portion is traditionally burned by the farmer. It typically is not buried because it depletes nitrogen from the soil and this must be replenished.

The flax crop is planted annually and the portion dedicated to secondary users is less than 5%; thus adequate supply exists in the marketplace.

The flax plant is amazingly strong ; thus if strength is what your application needs flax could be a could be a good candidate.
